As I have told you recently. I forgot to mention two incidents (“episodes”) of “my screaming wife” from 2010. So here’s one of them.
Erica (hysterically-crying and screaming): Someone’s trying to break in to our apartment!
Micah: Are you sure?
Erica: Yes, I don’t know what to do!
Micah: Have you called the police?
Micah (thinking there’s got to be a better explanation): Do you need me to?
Erica: Just come home! Hurry!
Micah: Ok, stay on the phone with me while I drive.
As I drove home (about a 5 minute drive) Erica voice became a little calmer, knowing her help was on his way. As I arrived I saw a cleaning crew in the apartment above us, which happens whenever someone moves out. When I arrived she was locked away in our room and she had been crying her eyes out… scared to death.
As she recounted the story, I put 2 and 2 together. She was just doing some work on her laptop while sitting on the couch, as Josiah was sleeping. Suddenly, someone started trying to open the door. When it didn’t open, they jiggled the handle, put keys into the knob and shook the door. Erica screamed. The intruder ceased their attempted entry. She ran into one of the rooms, with her cell phone and gave me a call.
What I realized was that the cleaning service that was cleaning the apartment above us had tried to enter the wrong apartment. It wasn’t the first time, nor would it be the last. I calmed Erica down and explained what I thought had happened. She then broke out into a relief-cry. You know, the kind of cry that makes you laugh at the same time.
A few months later the same cleaning lady tried to get into our apartment, only this time as she jiggled our handle, I opened our door rapidly and she screamed. Funny how the tables turn.
